I recently received a case of (incredibly delicious) chips from Simply 7 and was slightly overwhelmed by all of the different flavors and types of chips. The three types of chips they sent me were quinoa, lentil, and hummus chips—all with unique and delicious flavors of their own. I told you my thoughts on the super-amazing quinoa chips and the perfect-for-dipping lentil chips.
Now it’s time to share with you what the Official Taste Testers thought about the final variety, the hummus chips, in today’s Official Chip Tasting Ceremony. I also have a super awesome giveaway at the end of this post that you’re not going to wanna miss out on.
A quick disclosure: I DID receive free product from Simply 7 after contacting them and letting them know how much I enjoyed their chips. All opinions and borderline obsessions are 110% my own, as always.
Everyone knows that chips + hummus = YUM, so I’m pretty sure that also means that hummus chips = YUM as well, am I right?
The four flavors of hummus chips I received were Sea Salt, Roasted Red Pepper, Tomato Basil, and Spicy Chili Pepper.
Since most of these flavors have something to do with peppers and Italian flavors, I sort of expected for everyone to love every single one of these flavors (which they did).
Here’s the breakdown of what the Official Taste Testers thought of each flavor of chip:
SEA SALT:
Everyone thought these were nice and crispy with a light salt flavor. I personally think that the Sea Salt chips taste like THE perfect hummus.
ROASTED RED PEPPER:
Have you ever had pasta with a light red pepper sauce? If so, then you know exactly what these chips taste like. Perfectly rich, creamy, crunchy, and delicious. I also like that this flavor of chip would be a great low-calorie snack (130 calories in 30 chips).
TOMATO BASIL:
I’ve got to say, this flavor disappointed me a little bit. I was expecting a big bold, garden fresh tomato basil flavor to punch my taste buds square in the face, but instead it was more of a light, delicate basil flavor with a hint of tomato. I get the feeling that this would be great for dipping in a cream cheese pesto dip, though. Ooh yeah, that would be reeeally stinkin’ good.
SPICY CHILI PEPPER:
You guys know I like parties, right? So obviously I’m gonna be down for some chips that are a giant party of superior flavor. These chips aren’t terribly spicy, but they’re just spicy enough to make you want to eat 12497436 more of them.
^^^ I’m not exaggerating even a little bit.
Like I said in the other reviews, the main thing I like about these chips is that they contain no artificial colors or flavors, preservatives, or trans fats. And you can’t beat the convenience. A healthy snack that can be eaten with no preparation—NOW that’s something I need every day of the week.
If you remember, at the end of the lentil chips review I told you I had a super awesome surprise for you guys. Are you ready for it?
