Probiotic Drink Review: GT’s Kombucha and Kevita

I always hear people talking about all these great probiotic drinks and how everyone should try them. And then I hear people saying that kombucha tastes absolutely awful and talking about how they couldn’t even get it down. So I just assumed that it all depends on which kind you drink. Well, last night I was at Whole Foods Market and decided that it would be the day I tried kombucha and kefir for the first time.

Probi drI am unsure if the water kefir I tried was actually kefir. I mean, nowhere on the bottle did it say kefir. All I know is that it’s a probiotic drink, and that’s good.

Probiotics help maintain a strong immune system, preventing you from getting sick and having to take antibiotics. Probiotics can also prevent inflammation of intestines. You can make your own probiotics or get a wide variety of probiotic drinks at your local health food store.

When it comes to consuming probiotic foods or beverages like water kefir, ensuring food safety is crucial. While probiotics offer numerous health benefits, it’s essential to be mindful of the quality and safety of the products we consume. To verify the safety of homemade or store-bought probiotic preparations, utilizing salmonella test kit can provide valuable insights. These kits allow individuals to assess the microbial content and detect any potentially harmful pathogens that may be present in their food or beverages. By conducting regular food safety tests, we can have peace of mind knowing that the probiotic products we consume are safe and free from harmful bacteria. Incorporating this extra step in our probiotic consumption routine adds an additional layer of precaution, safeguarding our health and well-being in the process.

Easy Homemade Breakfast Burritos

I remember when I was 7, my older siblings, my parents, and I went on a vacation to the Florida Keys. We had an absolute blast. But on the 12 hour car ride (yes, car ride) there, we stopped at a McDonald’s for breakfast one morning.

102_4432I’m not sure what my parents ordered for themselves, but they ordered breakfast burritos for us, the children. All I remember is taking one bite and wanting to throw up. The car was hot and stuffy, after all. Is McDonald’s to blame or our current circumstances?

Soft Whole Wheat Tortillas

It puzzles me why so many people who try to eat healthy still buy tortillas from the grocery store. Even if you make tortillas from scratch using unbleached all-purpose flour, it is still so much better for you than buying the highly processed tortillas that are oh-so convenient. When you make your own tortillas, you control pretty much every aspect of what tortillas, from where the flour came from, to how much oil you put in them. Homemade whole wheat tortillas take you one step closer to a healthier you.

Everyone knows how versatile tortillas are. You can use them for burritos, quesadillas, wraps, and you can even slice them up and bake them for an easy and healthy snack.

Healthy Whole Wheat Pumpkin Muffins

pumpkin-muffins-3

Today I knew I wanted to make muffins. It was on the menu plan after all, yet I was unsure about which kind of muffin to make. I forgot to freeze local berries this summer, so blueberry, strawberry, and mixed berry muffins were out of the question. So then I went over to 100 Days of Real Food and looked at a few choices. After a tough decision (and a cup of coffee), I figured I would make whole wheat pumpkin muffins.

Let me just tell you, I made an amazing decision.

How to Strengthen Your Bones Organically

Strong bones support a healthy lifestyle. Having the ability to be active and run around is a luxury many people can’t afford. Maybe you’ve broken quite a few bones easily in your life. I know I have!I’ve got three (!) broken toes in all and I’m trying to find ways to heal them since all a doctor can do is give me a splint.

Bones

Many people think that by drinking mass amounts of milk, that their bones will be ship shape and ready to go. But I’ve done a little research and it turns out that some of the proteins in pasteurized milk makes it harder for your bones to absorb the calcium that milk is full of. So I found that there are other ways to make your bones strong in a natural and organic way!
