Simply 7 Quinoa Chips Review

On a recent shopping trip to Whole Foods Market, I was browsing through the chip aisle when a bag of Sea Salt Quinoa Chips caught my eye. I had never heard of chips made from quinoa, so my curiosity got the best of me and I bought a bag.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Before I continue, I just wanted to put out there that I DID receive free product from Simply 7 after contacting them and letting them know how much I enjoyed their chips. All opinions and borderline obsessions are 110% my own, as always.

Now that we got that out of the way…

let’s get this party started.

The four flavors of quinoa chips they sent me were: Sea Salt, Barbeque, Sour Cream & Onion, and Cheddar.

I’m gonna be honest with you—all of these flavors sounded so dreamy I kinda wanted to eat all of the chips at once.

But instead of stuffing myself, I gathered my family (AKA The Official Taste Testers) for an official Chip Tasting Ceremony. Because we’re official like that.

Here’s how I thought the order of our favorites would go: Cheddar, Sour Cream & Onion, Sea Salt, then Barbeque.

But here was the ACTUAL order, from most favorite to lease favorite: Barbeque, Sour Cream & Onion, Cheddar, then Sea Salt.

And now for me and my family’s thoughts on each individual flavor.

SEA SALT:

This was the flavor that I had already previously tried and loved. It’s crunchy, lightly salted, and it’s great for dipping. My family really enjoyed this flavor both times, and I can see it becoming a regular purchase.

BARBEQUE:

As I said before, these were our favorite out of the four flavors. Not only does it have a real BBQ flavor, the ingredients are natural and the taste isn’t too overpowering, like it’s Lays counterparts. The flavor is perfectly balanced. 20 thumbs up here.

SOUR CREAM & ONION:

I have always loved sour cream & onion chips, and these are no exception. Comments from The Official Taste Testers included: “Like heaven in your mouth,” “Has a really nice onion flavor with a hint of sour cream,” and “Can I please have three more?”

Case closed.

CHEDDAR:

I really thought this would be the flavor my family liked the most, but while they loved the heck out it, it wasn’t their absolute favorite.

I like that it has a natural cheese flavor, unlike what you would expect storebought Mac n’ Cheese to taste like. And not only is it nice and creamy tasting, it isn’t at all overwhelming.

The main thing I like about these chips is that they contain no artificial colors or flavors, preservatives, or trans fats.

I don’t know about you, but I care what goes into my family’s mouths and that fact that I can trust for there to be nothing bad about these chips is almost unbelievable!

The only ingredients that sent up any yellow flags at all were spices and natural flavors, but I recently learned that using this terminology helps keep their recipe secret so that no one can replicate their product.

All in all, we truly enjoyed each flavor. The Official Taste Testers were a little disappointed that I only let them eat one of each flavor until after the The Chip Tasting Ceremony ended. But after it was all said and done, there was a lot of chip munching, laughing, indulging, and having an awesome time eating some awesome-tasting chips.
