This no-fail homemade guacamole goes great on chips, burritos, burgers, tacos, and much more! The ingredients are so simple, the flavor is out of this world, and it can be adapted in so many ways.
Despite their health benefits, I’m not usually one to buy avocados.
Unless I know I’ll be making a batch of guacamole soon.
Avocados are a real funny thing. One minute their as hard as a rock, the next their waaaaay too soft and are completely unusable. So I buy the rock hard (green) avocados, wait until they’re just starting to go soft, and then make a batch of the world’s best homemade guacamole.
I’ve been making this guacamole for years, putting it on tacos, burritos, chips, salads, burgers, and much more. Not once has this recipe failed me. Not. Once.
Avocados ARE pretty high in fat, but it’s a healthy fat! Not to mention that they’re full of fiber and all kinds of vitamins. This healthy dip just got a whole lot better, am I right?
So why should you make this guacamole?
There’s so much to love about guacamole. Not only is it really inexpensive to make, it takes minutes! I don’t have time to make food that takes hours to prepare. I’m sure you don’t either! So the prep time on this baby is a big selling point for me.
And, of course, it’s super stinkin’ delicious. Seriously, I eat could eat this stuff by the spoonful. The flavor is out of this world!
In all honesty, this isn’t really a recipe. Okay it is, but the ingredients are so simple and it can be adapted in so many ways, it just feels wrong to call it a recipe. You can adapt it however you’d like, using less lime juice if you find it too tangy, adding red onion or tomato—anything!
Another thing you could do to change things up is add diced jalapeños for a little kick of heat. I’ve done this before and it was phenomenal to say the least.
Here’s the recipe:
- 3 large avocados, halved
- ½ teaspoon fresh lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced finely
- salt and pepper, to taste
- Scoop the pulp of the avocado out of the skin and place in a medium bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork until guacamole has reached your desired consistency (some like it smooth, some like it chunky).
- Add lime juice, salt, pepper, and garlic and mix thoroughly.
- Serve with chips or slather on burritos, tacos, or burgers!

Let me start out by saying—I wasn’t paid to say any of this. I WAS given a few bags of chips to sample a couple of flavors, but other than that, I wasn’t compensated to say anything positive about these chips. All opinions and borderline obsessions are my own.
So, with that said, lemme show you the chips!
We’ll start with my favorite—the sweet potato chips. I had only had sweet potato chips once before and I though they were terrible. So, ironically enough, the chips I thought I would like the least ended up being the ones I loved the most. They’re slightly sweet, slightly salty, and full of sweet potato flavor!
These chips definitely get 5 stars from me.
The blue corn chips are probably my second favorite. I really don’t ever buy white or yellow corn chips anymore and so I’ve been eating these for the past year. I eat these blue corn chips alongside homemade burritos with a little bit of salsa and, of course, guacamole.
These also get a 5 star rating from yours truly.
I have to say, these mulitgrain chips came as sort of a miracle to me. Since we started eating healthier, I haven’t been able to buy the multigrain chips I used to buy and I couldn’t find anything that came close to the flavor. I tried guys, I really did. And these were the only ones that even came remotely close. I love these and I could eat them daily.
My rating: 4 1/2 stars
To be honest, I had no idea how I would like these. You all know I love spicy foods, and there are spicy chips out there, but I don’t think anyone’s ever pureed jalapeños and put that in tortilla chips. Until now.
These jalapeño chips are actually pretty good, despite what you’d think. Of course I like ‘em because I love everything spicy, but I thought they were delicious. I do love that they’re colored with non-GMO beet powder instead of some artificial dye.
My rating: 4 stars
So, all in all, these are some seriously quality, delicious chips that I think everyone should buy. When I don’t have the energy or time to make something for snack, they make a perfect (and quick) snack.
