As someone who has just started college, I know firsthand the struggles of trying to grab something quick to eat before I have to be out the door. There are mornings when I just don’t have time to cook or put something together.

But I also don’t want to settle for convenient breakfast items that are loaded with sugar and are WAY overpriced. So today I wanted to share with you guys some of my tips for saving time in the mornings and also share a few of my favorite healthy breakfast choices!

Fresh fruits are literally the pinnacle of breakfast foods. They’re packed with all kinds of different vitamins and are a great source of natural sugars. This gives you that boost of energy you need in the mornings without the use of processed sugars.

Some of my favorites are mangoes, strawberries, kiwi, and cantaloupe (if you’re REALLY short on time, stick with berries!).

Tip #2: Make things ahead

If you know you’re not going to want to wake up until 15 minutes before you have to be out the door, give yourself an advantage by making breakfast essentials ahead of time.

For example, if you’re like me and don’t buy coffee creamers from the store, try making your own coffee creamer ahead of time so your coffee making process is a breeze! [Also, keep everything you need to make coffee local to your coffee maker so you’re not having to search every morning.]

Another thing I like to do is make chia seed pudding the night before—it takes less than five minutes to combine all of the ingredients into a jar and it’s ready for you to grab in the morning!

Tip #3: Choose quick, 5-minute recipes

So let’s just say you actually have a few minutes to throw something together. It doesn’t happen too often for me, but when it does I LOVE to whip up a protein smoothie or scramble together some eggs with my favorite add-ins!

The key for actually preparing food in the morning is to make sure you have all of the ingredients the night before and keep it simple. Don’t go crazy unless you absolutely have time for it.

Tip #4: Stock up on breakfast staples!

Okay you guys, real talk: even on the mornings when we have a few minutes to spare, we don’t feel like taking the time to make something. This is especially true for me as a college student when I have to choose between making something to eat or making sure I have everything I need for class.

Lately I have been loving Liberté Whole Milk Yogurt. I haven’t gotten a chance to try all of their flavors yet, but my current favorite is Ecuadorian Mango. You guys—I’m not even kidding this may be the best yogurt I’ve ever had. It’s so rich and creamy, it fills you up, it’s organic, AND they source their milk from small farmers to support sustainable farming!

I do most of my shopping at Publix because it’s super close and their price to quality ratio is unmatched in my opinion. And obviously, they sell my favorite yogurt there which is a plus!

Even my roommate (who I may or may not have forced to try it) fell in love after one bite. She was like, “girl, it’s just yogurt” but then after she tried it, well, I never got it back.  8-O
